‘He was collateral damage’: Family details tragic impact of pandemic on their life

FORTH WORTH, Texas — The pandemic has had a profound effect on the lives of Joe and Arlene Ponce, of Fort Worth. When their son died suddenly in April, of an illness unrelated to COVID, they couldn’t visit him in the hospital. And their family business, a transmission repair shop, has been struggling for months. "It's the small mom and pops like ours that's hurting," Joe Ponce said.
